Job description
The Economist Intern will support ongoing economic research projects by conducting targeted analyses, data compilation, and technical research tasks. Interns at this level are expected to work with limited supervision while demonstrating initiative, accuracy, and a strong interest in applied economics.
This role involves analytical support, preparation of datasets, and contribution to studies that inform real-world policy discussions. Work may include literature reviews, quantitative assessments, and participation in internal discussions. The environment is research-focused, collaborative, and innovation-driven.
- Assist in data compilation, cleaning, and structuring for analysis.
- Perform statistical analysis using established economic methods and tools such as MS Excel, EViews, GAMS, SAS, or STATA.
- Support research activities by preparing analytical notes, summaries, and technical inputs.
- Contribute to the development of datasets for ongoing research and policy projects.
- Aid senior colleagues with analytical tasks and provide timely, accurate technical support.
- Participate in meetings, research discussions, and collaborative tasks as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Preferably enrolled in Economics, Statistics, or related programs such as Social Sciences or Sustainability with strong economics content.
- Demonstrated experience or coursework involving quantitative and analytical work.
- Skilled in applying established statistical or economic methods and using analytical software (Excel, EViews, GAMS, SAS, STATA).
- Ability to work with large datasets, organize information, and apply quantitative techniques.
- Able to work independently with limited guidance and deliver high-quality analytical outputs.
- Strong interest in real-world economic issues and policy-relevant research.
